Car insurance in Spain differs significantly from UK policies. In Spain, any driver over the age of 25 with at least two years of driving experience can typically drive the insured vehicle.
Importantly, Spanish law requires all vehicles to be insured, even if they are not currently on the road.

UK-Registered Vehicles: Important Information
We can insure UK-registered vehicles in Spain, but specific conditions apply.
Conditions for UK Vehicle Insurance in Spain
- Vehicle value (as new) must be under €150,000
- The policyholder must hold an active home insurance policy with us
- A maximum of two UK-registered vehicle policies per client
- The vehicle must be located in Spain when the policy is taken out and should be used primarily within Spanish territory
Vehicles primarily driven outside of Spain are not eligible for cover.
Temporary Cover for UK-Plated Vehicles Undergoing Rematriculation
We also offer 3-month temporary policies for UK vehicles and vehicles from the EU, Canada and Amercia that are in the process of being re-registered onto Spanish plates.
To qualify:
- The vehicle must be in Spain
- You must provide official proof (such as a letter from a Gestoria or specialist rematriculation company)
